Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Lonny Kalfus had no idea that photography was to become his life's work.
He started out with a plan to be a dentist. It was after 2+ years at NYU dental school that the long journey to becoming an accomplished photographer began. Along the way he shot for the NYTimes for many years before transforming his photographic direction to graphic designers and corporate clients... eventually becoming a leading photographer for annual reports, advertising and public relations assignments that often involved travel worldwide.
Lonny was represented by Iris galleries, Boston and the Berkshires as well as Getty images around the globe. His work has been shown in many venues in the Hudson Valley, NY, Boston and numerous collections throughout the US and overseas. In 2020 Lonny and his wife, Maj, an accomplished artist, moved from their beloved Columbia County to Weston CT. to be near their daughters and grandkids. Lonny has always worked on new techniques and images. In recent years his work has focused on photocollage incorporating many of his images from around the globe.
